Cookie Policy
Effective date: July 1, 2026. This policy explains how canasta.now uses cookies and similar storage.
What we use
Essential cookies
When you sign in with Google or submit a form (like contact), we set a small session cookie that keeps you logged in and blocks cross-site request forgery. Without these, sign-in and forms cannot work. They are removed when you sign out or your session ends.
Local storage (not a cookie)
Your Canasta results, best scores, streaks, in-progress games and settings are saved in your browser's local storage on your own device. This never leaves your browser unless you sign in with Google, in which case your best scores sync to the leaderboard. Clearing your browser data erases the local copy.
Analytics
We may use privacy-respecting analytics to understand aggregate usage, such as which Canasta variants are popular. This data is aggregated and is not used to identify you personally, and we do not sell it. See our privacy policy for details.
What we do not use
- No advertising cookies.
- No cross-site or third-party tracking pixels.
- No selling or sharing of personal data.
Managing cookies
You can clear or block cookies in your browser settings at any time. Blocking essential cookies means Google sign-in and forms will not work, but you can still play every Canasta variant as a guest - no account needed. Questions? Reach us through the contact page.
